The Magic of Getting Dirty
Designers in particular have an intimate relationship with their laptops, iPads and so forth. Of course, digital devices have some advantages to offer, but perhaps we should remind ourselves more often of analogue work with our hands.
This became especially clear to me when I was making the tote bags for the conference last winter. I got my hands dirty again for the first time in a long time – a normal thing with screen printing, and I had apparently forgotten how much I enjoyed it.
That's why in my article I took a more in-depth look at precisely this: On the one hand at screen printing itself, but especially at putting the computer aside and letting the hands do the work instead in general.
