Project description: a re-design of the passport or a re-design of society
In Russia there are two documents: a passport for travelling and a passport for living in the country. Both passports have a lot of power elements. The main idea is to redesign them so that they look more attractive and reflect the changing mood in the country.
Inclusivity: The passport represents not only the capital, but all the regions (the design includes places of regional importance).
There may be technological complications: data leakage due to changes in national identity documents. Public reaction: the nation should identify with the new design and be accepted by other countries.
To solve this problem, I wanted to redesign the passport while respecting the history and traditions of the country, making the design based on the national consciousness. More nature, less history.
Basic rules and information
The passport should reflect the new culture. There should be no off-putting symbols. The general impression of the passport should be positive.
The passport represents not only the sovereignty of the country, but also nature, nations, traditions of the people.
Main users: People living in Russia after the regime change + the government + people travelling to and from Russia.
The issuer: The government.
First steps: ideas, mood boards, sketches
Create a passport for the people of the new political era:
- Change the symbols/colour palette. Remove power connotations (which symbols?);
- Make it more user friendly and pleasant to use;
- Make it inclusive for all nations living in the country by adding: the map of the whole country / adding illustrations of sights all over the country / patterns / emphasis on nature (what kind of illustrations?? what fonts? Cyrillic fonts?);
- Transparent ID card insert: the idea of clarity and a fresh start;
- Add interactive elements so it's comfortable to use.
