Unrolling surfaces of the icosahedron with Rhino and adding ornaments
Ornaments modelled on the triangles of the icosahedron, but also to interrupt them by a circular shape in the centre. Step-like patterns appear like 3-dimensional pyramids and evoke a mystical, but also impressive atmosphere.
Laser-cutting
Laser cutting on the laser from the Materiability Lab. Pattern looks even more interesting than before, due to the great contrast between negative and positive space. This is created by using black paper.
Finished icosahedron
Folding and gluing glue joints after lasering to get a finished icosahedron. (+Rendering)
Finished structure
Since the pattern is very complex, the structure must be simpler, otherwise the ornaments would be lost. (+Rendering)
