1. Introduction

To amplify the contradictions of Bauhaus thinking, this project presents an exaggerated and nonsensical critique.

Through this approach, I explored:

1- The tension between an ideal design & a usable design.

2- The cons of obsessing over minimalism at the expense of function.

3- The paradox of design legacies as both revolutionary & problematic.

The key point in this investigation was to discover how might we apply bauhaus principles to the redesigning of food so that it becomes provocative. One such principle that the project focuses on for visual commentary is the absence of “ornaments”. Something that we very commonly observe in the Bauhaus architecture & furniture design.

2. The Form

This project was displayed as an immersive audio installation.

3. The Idea

This project curated a recipe for an „ultra clear soup“ with 29 ingredients. This soup is meant to be crystal clear and devoid of any ornamentation. However the process of stripping away these ornaments eventually becomes convoluted and taxing, ironically transforming it into an elaborate ornament in itself.
