Documenting Utopias - Never Static statically visualized

During this Expertise, we created a magazine about the whole making of our conference „Designing Utopias - Gaze into Time“. Every student wrote a text showing their role during the process or their perspective towards the event. My article describes my decision-making in designing a visual identity for the conference.

Never Static

The design team I was part of chose Never Static as a concept for the conference. It symbolized both the dynamics of time and also design. Since the event was supposed to be about the future and past in design, it seemed to be a fitting name for a concept.

After we settled on a name, I designed a poster, a name tag and some flags to show how the design worked. I used vibrant colours and patterns that functioned as a code system to differentiate between visitors and the team of the event. The modern typefaces complemented the playful design.

The Article

In the article, I basically described my design process. To visualize that, I designed the spreads with the same graphic elements. In the end, the pages are a mixture of accentuated typography, slightly moving patterns and mockups.
