then and there — porcelain printing

Day 1: Printing the first object under the motto „better done than perfect“ just to see how printing with porcelain is and what might be possible

Day 2: Experimenting with the intersection quality of 3D printing (which is not possible in this way with slab building, throwing or pouring clay). I made an Illustration on the iPad of what was in front of me, exported the svg, imported it into blender, extruded that vector line, exported an stl and imported that in cura. Then sliced it, put it in the printer and off it went! Was a fun project. Watch the video linked below.👇

Day 3: Experimenting with 3D scanning body parts together with Rima and printing hands. Also time for the second illustration experiment – this time all about bottles and vessels! Imma make some jewelry if everything goes right.

Day 4: Breaking something (the prints are very fragile) so re-printing the latest illustration, sipping coffee and just enjoying the last printer noises.


10/10 would recommend and def. do again! Learned more about ceramics and especially porcelain which was the goal and might potentially go home with some unique memories captured in objects.
