An element is an essential or characteristic part of something abstract. I decided to keep working on the idea of the human as an abstract construct which is build of a variety of elements. Following the symmetry of the human face, I designed a patterns that retrospect a face. The interlocking system works wit symmetries and can lead to an irritation because you can’t plug into every connection. The see-through plexiglass invites the viewers to change there perspectives. In addition they are reminded that a transparent communication of there feelings and needs leads to deep connections. So elements can build an interlocking system.
During the process I reflected myself that I put a lot of energy into the conceptional work. I think it’s important to give your work a broader context that supports the effect of the design. It was challenging for me to keep the focus on the system. I talked a lot with my student friends and asked them for their meaning. It helped me a lot to discuss about the material and what kind of effect is created. In line with the material, I wanted to explore new ones. The plexiglass offered me the great opportunity to experience with light. Apart from that I had the idea to work with photos on thick cardboard. The process showed me that this idea needs more time to develop, so I kept trying other ways.
In conclusion I really enjoyed to work on the project which opened me the door of the cosmos of 3D. Rhino challenged me a lot but with the support of Manuel and the others it worked out well and I am looking forward to continue working with Rhino and explore new materials which work out with photos. I am excited to create new elements with new visual interfaces.
