CYBE WEB HEADSET

Product design: translating ear buds.

Future scenario: global trade war.

Featuring AI

Introduction

Our task was to continuously build on the findings of previous research conducted by other teams. One of these projects led to the development of translating earbuds designed for a future shaped by a global trade war. Based on that, I created my own design:

Antonia Paulus‘ visualisation + group mind mapping about the persona’s and brand’s values.

Toni’s visualization captured the essence of the scenario so well that it remained a constant reference during my own design process. In the final phase of development (about refining the product’s values for its users) I arrived at my final design idea. The spider-like shape felt so functional and organic that I came up with several ideas right from the beginning. Additionally, I drew further inspiration from my elective module with Mr. Jüsche.

Design Development

I used our research images mixed with images from Pinterest, Google, and AI-generated visuals from ChatGPT to create a mood-board. Based on that, I generated my poster visuals using Firefly and finalized them with further editing in Photoshop.

All final edits were brought together here, along with a description of the future scenario and the device’s intended functions.

Future Scenario:

In a decade-long global trade war, that began in 2245, nations have regrouped into powerful alliances. Defined not by geography, but by data control and digital borders. Each with their own data laws, currencies, and languages. Communication is no longer just a tool, language has become power: translation technologies became strategic assets. Autonomous translation satellites were launched. Governments scrambled to control dialect specific AI. Mistranslation became a method of misinformation, while voice barriers replaced physical walls.

Service Device:

The “CYBE WEB headset” by CYBE is a robotic device, designed for realtime voice translation. CYBE creates technology that brings people closer across languages, systems, and cultures. Designed with adaptive robotics and personalized AI, the CYBE WEB headset translates over 50 languages in real time, isolates voices in noisy environments, and fits every ear with ergonomic precision. Every component has a purpose: from touch control to health monitoring, all within a lightweight, clinical-grade design. Ideal for everyday wear and business comfort. Built for the future. Designed for you.

Thank you, Maria and Alejandro, for the good insights into the working world and for helping us learn how to collaborate effectively in teams. I'm happy with how creative we got and how the project turned out.
