The project „Color Walk“ was about sharpening one's senses and not only seeing, but really perceiving. It all began with a one-hour walk. On this walk I was guided only by the color. That means, I did not determine a route. I simply let myself be carried away by the sensory impressions that streamed down on me. On this walk no distractions like other people, mobile phones or other disturbers were allowed. I documented the entire route with a dictaphone. I was not just interested in a travelogue, but above all in turning down all filters and actually looking. Knowing that I can only maintain this state for a certain period of time and in order to be able to concentrate better on what I perceived, I decided to do the walk at night.
My journey was characterized by dark but not threatening sounds, beautiful contrasts and disturbing surprises. The triangle seemed to be a red thread running through my experience.
The aim of the project was to make our experiences accessible to others and to process them for ourselves. I decided to choose five selected situations from the hike and write down my experiences in a kind of short story. I have bound these short stories in a book with a japanese folding technique. The flaps of the book and the emblem I also built. The book is decorated with an etching, which divides a hexagon into triangles. This hexagon points to the triangular „puzzle pieces“ that belong to the book. These six puzzle pieces are painted on both sides with colors from the hike. All the pieces are numbered from one to twelve. Each short story is accompanied by a small laying instruction. These compositions reflect the colour mood of the respective story. This interplay of haptic experience and cognitive reading of the stories results in a whole that allows the reader to really become part of the story.
