What is the project about?

This project consists of two independent Expertise modules (EXP I and EXP II), each featuring 4 excercises and using the “telephone game”/“Stille Post” method. As there is no right or wrong solution, it's your individual responsibility to include as much information as possible for the next person who has to continue working with your result.

Why should I apply for this project?

Being an discipline of gaining and managing knowledge, Design often needs to translate insights from one system into another. In this Expertise module, I would like to draw your attention to a playful, yet conscious use of translations.

What is the content of EXP I?

You will translate a given text

–> into a text poster (focus on syntax/structure)

–> into a typographic image (focus on meaning/semantics)

–> into a video (focus on developments/dynamics)

–> into a sound (focus on emotion/immersion).

What is the content of EXP II?

In EXP II you will receive a sound and translate it into

–> video (add typographic visuals)

–> typo poster (add spatial structure)

–> text (add plot).

Which of the both modules can I apply for?

You can apply for EXP I, for EXP II, or for both.

When will the results of EXP I and EXP II be shown?

At the end of summer semester 2022 we will show all results in a little exhibition at DessauDesignShow on 15 July 2022. Please save the date!
