Food and Memories

Memories associated with food are unique experiences. They should not be just about past. These memories, for me, are an inspiration to have more. A potato cooking is an interpretation of a common experience, which is realized later as an adventure with family and friends. Potato as my main character in illustration renders my idea of food related experiences with people we can easily meet or greet. As potato is easily accessible and affordable.

Ideation and mind mapping process

I associated some words with the topic „food and memories“. Indulgence, pleasure and reward were the words which stood out for me. I became more fascinated to find out the core of these feelings we get. Traditionally, philosophers have linked memory as a storehouse or a recording device in our head. Considering this, for me, experiences are the cause for the generation of such intense feelings.

Mood Boards

I created two mood boards with different color palettes.
One mood board is the images of traditional food from my country which are commonly referenced for food indulgence. Second mood board is based on the feelings/emotions, softness of our experiences associated with family and friends.

Potatoes are more than just potatoes!

Potatoes contain vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They're rich in vitamin C, which is an antioxidant. Potatoes were a life-saving food source in early times because the vitamin C prevented scurvy.
They are also known as Earth Apples. They are accessible yet powerful!
